The Devil Wears Frederick - a Video for Frederick Fashion Week
Every project has a challenge, and this one has 11 days, historic significance, and an unforeseen creative block that could have made it all “meh.”
11 Days Until the Show: The Meeting
Our director meets with Bianca Margolis, local business owner and one of the minds behind the first ever Frederick Fashion Week. She needs a video to kickoff the event that celebrates Frederick’s fashion heritage and also the current vibrant artistry that binds Frederick together.
Usually, a video of this caliber would take a few weeks to pull together, but Josh says, “we can do it.”
8 Days Until the Show: Skip to the Script
To blend history with the cutting edge, we start with the 1930’s-50’s fashion icon, Claire McCardell, who chose comfort over corsets and pioneered the look of the American woman. We honor her story while showing Frederick’s diverse and vibrantly creative community.
Due to our countdown clock, our rapid-fire pre-production skips over a few approval steps. Luckily, when Bianca reads the script she says, “let’s do it.”
4 Days until the Show: The Reel Ringer
We have a secret in our pocket…Sean. One of our DP’s, Sean Reel (yes, that’s his real name) lives in Frederick. Josh calls him directly after the go-ahead from Bianca.
By Tuesday of that next week, we’re filming all across Frederick. Thank you to those business owners who let us in last minute!
2 Days until the Show: The Creative Block
When the timeline is tight, there’s no time for hiccups. But almost every project has a new, unknown challenge, and this time it’s the music. Although it “matches,” it’s still not right.
After seeing the draft, Lucas disappears into his headphones and emerges 30 minutes later with two perfect options. We send the video to Bianca with a day to spare. As Josh says, “Teamwork at its finest.”

Gratitude. Frederick Fashion Week has amazing success, and the kickoff video receives elated applause. It’s a perfect celebratory moment, and we couldn’t be more grateful for being connected to it.
“I really am still trying to find the words to thank you. I am beyond grateful, thank you so much for believing, for taking the time, for sharing your creative genius, for your patience and kindness. I am honored. Your the best at what you do, hands down.”
Thanks to our years in the business, we know each success is only thanks to the team that made it happen. Starting with Bianca’s idea, to Josh’s concept, to Sean, Lucas, and the whole crew that made it happen, every tiny choice builds to that indescribable moment of pride.
