From a Casual Conversation to a Powerful Story: Creating a Music Video with The Mack Berry Band
Sometimes the best projects begin with the simplest conversations.

Where the Story Began
When we first met Mack Berry, it wasn't on a film set or during a production meeting. It was at a local leadership group. In passing, Mack joked, "If I ever need a music video, I'll know who to call." Our answer was simple: "Absolutely."
Months later, that conversation became reality.
When Mack reached out, the vision wasn't to create a traditional music video centered solely on the band. Instead, they wanted to use the song as an opportunity to tell a larger story—one that honored veterans and highlighted the personal struggles that often continue long after military service ends.
From the beginning, we knew this project needed to feel authentic, cinematic, and grounded in the people and experiences it sought to recognize.
Building a Visual Story
Every project starts with the same question: How do we tell this story in a way that feels honest and original?
Because the focus extended beyond the band's performance, we looked for locations that could naturally reinforce the themes of sacrifice, history, and resilience. Thanks to access to a local aviation museum, we found the perfect backdrop.
We filmed two distinct performance sequences; one in front of a historic military aircraft and another inside the cargo bay of a vintage military plane. These settings gave the performances a deeper sense of context while supporting the larger story the band wanted to tell.
Being only a short drive from Washington, D.C., we also incorporated footage of the band visiting several of the city's military memorials. These quieter, reflective moments helped shift the focus from performance to remembrance, creating a stronger emotional connection throughout the film.
Creating a Cinematic Experience
To elevate the visual style, we chose to shoot the project using anamorphic lenses, giving the film a wider, more cinematic look. The subtle characteristics of the lenses added texture and emotion, allowing the piece to feel more like a short documentary than a conventional music video.
In post-production, we blended carefully selected archival wartime footage with additional imagery that helped illustrate a veteran's journey. Layering these historical elements alongside the newly captured footage reinforced the song's message while ensuring the stories of veterans remained at the heart of the film.
The result was a music video that became something more—a tribute to those who have served and a visual story designed to resonate beyond the music itself.
A Story That Resonated
The project premiered during a special launch event featuring both the debut of the music video and a live performance by The Mack Berry Band. The audience responded with a standing ovation, a powerful reminder that storytelling has the ability to create genuine emotional connection.
Since its release, the video has reached thousands of viewers and continues to carry the song's message to new audiences.
